Do Christian Schools Really Need to Have a Strategic Plan? With our nation now experiencing economic recovery, Christian schools need to reposition themselves for the 2011-2012 school year. As recessions come and recessions go, by the grace of God, we now need to ambitiously position our schools for future growth and regain lost momentum. Christian schools that have merely sought to survive and not thrive must now rethink their original calling to deliver cutting edge education for the glory of Christ. God's revealed truths for academic excellence found in transformed lives and minds demands nothing less. In regard to strategic planning, a school cannot seek to just weather a tough economic storm or exist on day to day operations. On the other hand, a Christian school does not need an idealistic and too long range of a strategic plan. (We suggest 2-5 years at a time.) Whereas, how many schools have sketches of a nice campus but have no idea how and when they will get there? The school seeks form but may lack the substance necessary to get there. As for strategic planning, does the school have a financial strategic plan as well as a strategic marketing plan that meshes with the overall strategic vision? A school's wide-ranging viability and stability will be contingent on all of the above.
